Weavertown Diesel Highlights CP3 Kits for LML Duramax Trucks

MYERSTOWN, Pa., October 31, 2026 - Weavertown Diesel is highlighting its CP3 conversion kits for 2011-2016 LML Duramax trucks, bringing attention to an option for owners evaluating changes to their truck's high-pressure fuel system. The company is also providing information about how the conversion fits into the existing common-rail fuel system and what owners should review before selecting components.

The announcement gives LML Duramax owners a clearer look at the purpose of a CP3 conversion and the application-specific hardware involved. The conversion is designed around the requirements of the truck and the CP3 pump selected for the application.

Why Are CP3 Conversion Kits Used on Trucks?

A CP3 conversion kit is used to adapt a compatible CP3 high-pressure fuel pump to a truck that was originally equipped with a different pump arrangement.

The high-pressure pump increases fuel pressure before fuel reaches the common rail. For LML Duramax owners, the conversion changes the pump arrangement without requiring replacement of the engine itself.

Conversion hardware provides the parts needed to install the selected CP3. Depending on the application, those requirements can include mounting provisions and fuel-system connections.

What Is the Difference Between a CP3 and CP4?

CP3 and CP4 pumps are both high-pressure pumps used in common-rail diesel fuel systems, but they are different designs.

Because their physical and system requirements are not identical, a CP3 cannot simply be treated as a direct replacement for every CP4 application. A CP4 to CP3 conversion uses hardware that addresses the differences between the original pump arrangement and the selected CP3.

Where Does a CP3 Fit in the Diesel Fuel System?

The high-pressure pump is one part of a larger fuel-delivery system. Fuel first leaves the tank and travels through the supply side before reaching the high-pressure pump.

The basic sequence is:

Fuel tank → Fuel supply → High-pressure pump → Common rail → Injectors → Engine cylinders

The CP3's role is to raise fuel pressure for the common rail. The rail then provides the pressurized fuel needed by the injectors. Other components continue to perform their own functions as part of the complete system.

Understanding this layout shows why a conversion involves more than the pump itself. The replacement pump must work with the connections and supporting components used by the specific truck.

Choosing a CP3 Conversion

Before selecting a conversion, owners should review the truck's existing configuration rather than assume that one setup will work for every application.

Important considerations include:

For an LML Duramax CP3 conversion, these factors can affect which components are appropriate for the truck.

"Every truck has its own configuration, so the conversion needs to be considered in the context of the entire fuel system," said Rendell Weaver, Owner of Weavertown Diesel. "Understanding the truck's existing setup and the components being used is an important part of choosing the right conversion."

Can Existing Fuel-System Changes Affect a Conversion?

Yes. Previous modifications can change the requirements for a CP3 conversion. Owners should account for those changes when reviewing the pump, mounting hardware, fuel connections, and other related components.

The conversion should also be considered separately from emissions-control modifications. Fuel-system changes do not authorize modifications that defeat or bypass required emissions controls.
